Blown-In Insulation

Sustainable, Efficient, and Effective Against Energy Loss

Blown-in insulation enhances energy efficiency in wall cavities, surpassing batt insulation by reducing air leakage and increasing R-value. Made with over 70% recycled, formaldehyde-free materials, it offers cost-effective energy savings. However its important to note that, its performance is dependent on controlled humidity, as its fiberglass is air and vapor permeable.

Benefits of Blown-In Insulation

How Blown-In Insulation Works

Blown-in insulation works by distributing insulation materials into wall cavities, attic spaces, or other areas requiring insulation. This process allows for the insulation to fill in gaps, voids, and hard-to-reach spaces more effectively than traditional batt insulation. Here's a more detailed look at how it works:

Preparation

Before the installation begins, areas to be insulated are prepared. This may involve sealing any air leaks to ensure the insulation will perform optimally.

Material Selection

Our blown insulation service offers fiberglass insulation, ensuring top-quality thermal performance for your building's needs and to match the unique requirements of your structure and the targeted insulation areas.

Blowing Equipment

The selected insulation material is loaded into a specialized machine. This machine uses air to break up the material and then forcefully blows it through a hose.

Application

Technicians direct the hose to the areas that need insulation. The blown-in material expands to fill the space, covering every gap or awkward space . This process ensures an even distribution and a tight fit around obstacles like pipes and wiring, which can be difficult to achieve with batt insulation.

Density and Coverage

The density of the blown-in insulation can be controlled during application, allowing for customized thermal resistance (R-value) levels. Higher density applications can provide better soundproofing and energy efficiency.

In some cases, a vapour barrier may be installed before the insulation to prevent moisture buildup. The air-sealing properties of blown-in insulation also help to reduce energy losses from air leakage.

Blown-in insulation’s ability to fill in completely and adapt to the space it’s applied to makes it an effective solution for improving a building’s energy efficiency, reducing noise, and creating a more comfortable indoor environment.
